Three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam on Tuesday.
Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Kulgam’s Redwani area late on Monday after they had received information about the presence of terrorists in the area, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying.
However, the search operation turned into an encounter which went on till Tuesday.
The bodies of the terrorists were yet to be identified and retrieved.
On May 1, security agencies had widened the ambit of the search operation to Kathua district to track down two groups of terrorists after a village defence guard (VDG) was killed in a brief encounter with terrorists on April 28.
The encounter took place in remote Panara village in Chochru Gala heights.
On April 29, Additional Director General of Police (Jammu zone) Anand Jain said two groups of terrorists were believed to be present in the area after they recently infiltrated from across the border.
