DC’s assistant coach Pravin Amre explained how Kuldeep Yadav’s ‘dream ball’ to Nicholas Pooran played a major role in their win over LSG in Lucknow on Aril 12.
Kuldeep, who was making his return to the Delhi lineup after missing the last three games, delivered an absolute beauty that beat Pooran all ends up on the very first delivery he faced and left his stumps shattered. Kuldeep would end up bagging the Player Of The Match award for his performance against LSG.
Speaking at the press conference after the win on Friday, Amre said that the ‘dream ball’ to Pooran helped them restrict LSG to 160. While Ayush Badoni did hit a fine fifty, Amre feels that the wicket of Pooran ensured that Lucknow didn’t get to a score between 160-190.
“We have to take Kuldeep’s name as he was the Player Of The Match. The dream ball that he delivered to Pooran. We all know Pooran is a match-winning batter. That wicket helped us restrict LSG to 160. Yes, Ayush Badoni hit a fine fifty, but the impact of the score being 160-190 was reduced by that wicket and we were able to control the game,” said Amre.
The DC assistant coach also said that Kuldeep was eager to play the match in Lucknow as it was his home ground and Amre revealed that the spinner was constantly asking about when the match would happen.
“For any player, performing on their home ground is great. There’s a lot of emotions connected with it. He hadn’t played the last three matches and he was eagerly looking out and asking ‘when are we heading to Lucknow?'” said Amre.
Kuldeep was the missing piece in our winning combo: Amre
The DC assistant coach commented on Kuldeep’s injury and said that it was a grade 1 groin injury and they kept him out as they didn’t want to aggravate it. Amre felt that Kuldeep was the missing piece in their winning combination.
“It was a grade 1 groin injury. So we didn’t want to aggravate it. He is a very important player, so yes, he was the missing piece in our winning combination,” said Amre.
This was DC’s second win of the season and they will look to continue the momentum against GT in Ahmedabad on April 17.
