India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave an injury update on his social media after missing the second Test against Egland due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the 1st Test in Hyderabad.

As the BCCI is set to announce the squad for the remainder of the Test series, there are clouds of uncertainty over the all-rounder’s participation in the next 3 Test matches.

Ever since Jadeja endured an injury to his hamstring, he has been constantly updating the fans on his recovery progress via social media posts. Jadeja posted a picture on Instagram where he looked all smiles and captioned the post, “Getting better.”

HOW JADEJA GOT INJURED?

Jadeja made a crucial contribution in the 1st Test against England as he scored 87 runs during India’s 1st innings and helped the team get a 190-run lead. The left-arm spinner picked up a total of 5 wickets in the Test which India lost by 28 runs. However, when India were chasing 231 runs in the 4th innings, Jadeja got run out by England skipper Ben Stokes. The more worrying sign than losing the Test match was the sight of Jadeja walking back to the pavilion while clutching his hamstring.

Ahead of the Vizag Test, the BCCI announced that Jadeja, along with KL Rahul were ruled out from the 2nd Test. It was a big setback for a team that lost the 1st Test and were already without the services of star batter Virat Kohli. After the announcement, Jadeja went to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and is currently under rehab.

India went on to win the 2nd Test with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring a double century and Shubman Gill hitting a century respectively. Jasprit Bumrah was the chief tormentor with the ball as he ended with match figures of 9/81 in Vizag. The hosts managed a victory by 106 runs to level the series 1-1. There are reports of Jadeja and pacer Mohammed Shami getting ruled out of the series. The BCCI is also unclear about Kohli’s participation in the Test series.

“As of now, there is little or no chance that Mohammed Shami (who is in the UK for ankle treatment) and Ravindra Jadeja will be fit for the remainder of the series. In the case of Rahul, he is getting better and a gap of a week between the second and third Tests will also help him getting match-ready,” a source said.

The 3rd Test match between India and England begins on February 15 in Rajkot.
