UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed’s son to contest upcoming polls in Pakistan

The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a political party set up by 26/11 terror attack mastermind.

And UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed, will contest the upcoming general elections in Pakistan, a report by Pakistani English daily Dawn stated.

The party has reportedly fielded candidates for each and every national and provincial assembly constituency of Pakistan in the February 8 elections.

Notably, Hafiz Saeed’s son Talha Saeed is also in the run and will contest the polls from National Assembly’s constituency NA-127, Lahore, as per the report.

Hafiz Saeed, the founder of the UN-designated terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has been in jail since 2019 after being found guilty in several terror financing cases. The United States has placed a USD 10 million bounty on Saeed.

Hafiz Saeed-led banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) is the front organisation for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is responsible for carrying out the 2008 Mumbai attack that killed 166 people, including six Americans.

The electoral symbol for the PMML is ‘chair’. In a video message, PMML President Khalid Masood Sindhu said that his party is contesting on most of the national and provincial assembly seats.

“We want to come to power not for corruption but to serve the people and make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state,” he said.

Meanwhile, Khalid Masood Sindhu will contest from NA-130 Lahore against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo and former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

While speaking to news agency PTI, Sindhu denied PMML’s links with Hafiz Saeed and his outfit. “Our party has no backing of Hafiz Saeed,” he claimed.
