‘No comments’: Ramesh Bidhuri’s reaction amid row over abuse in Parliament

BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Sunday refused to comment on his alleged usage of abusive language while speaking against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Kunwar Danish Ali in Lok Sabha and said the Speaker was was looking into the incident.

“No comments. Speaker (Om Birla) is looking into that, I don’t want to make any comment about it,” Bidhuri said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Ramesh Bidhuri, on Thursday, had made objectionable remarks against BSP leader Kunwar Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. His remarks were expunged from parliamentary records.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had on Friday warned Bidhuri of “strict action” if such behaviour is repeated.

BJP SEEKS EXPLANATION

On the same day, he was served a show cause notice by the BJP, asking to explain why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for using unparliamentary language.

However, the party also hit back at the opposition leaders, alleging they have been making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his parents.

BSP MP’S REACTION
Meanwhile, BSP MP Danish Ali said he would consider giving up his Lok Sabha membership if action is not taken against Ramesh Bidhuri.

“When this is the condition of an elected member like me, then what will be the condition of a common man? I hope I will get justice and the Speaker will conduct an enquiry. Or else, with a heavy heart, I will think about leaving this Parliament because this can’t be tolerated,” the BSP leader said.

OPPOSITION DEMANDS STRICT ACTION
Opposition parties on Saturday stepped up pressure on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for stringent action, including suspension, against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri over his derogatory remarks against BSP MP Danish Ali in the House.

Congress chief whip in Lok Sabha K Suresh, among the leaders, has written to Birla demanding the immediate suspension of Bidhuri and that the matter be sent to the privileges committee.
