Arson, rioting and six deaths: How Pakistan is burning after Imran Khan’s arrest
The arrest of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday ended up in widespread arson and rioting as his supporters across the country thronged the streets.
In support of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief. As many as six deaths have been reported so far out of which 1 has been reported from Quetta, 1 in Faisalabad, 1 in Chakdara Swat and 1 in Lahore and dozens have been injured.
Unprecedented occurrences were witnessed all over Pakistan as protesters barged into the military headquarters in Rawalpindi after smashing the main entrance of the campus.
Gunshots echoed in parts of Pakistan, and black smoke billowed after places were set ablaze by Imran Khan’s supporters.
While the law and order situation in Pakistan continues to lie in tatters, Islamabad High Court held Imran Khan’s arrest ‘legal’.

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan on Tuesday was arrested by Pakistani rangers from outside the Islamabad High Court.
mran Khan was arrested in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust Case. Khan was arrested after an arrest warrant against him was issued by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Rawalpindi on May 1.
Soon after Imran Khan’s arrest, his supporters hit the streets in massive numbers, resulting in the imposition of Section 144 across the country.
Khan’s supporters stormed the Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi after smashing the Army’s insignia that hung outside the complex.
The protesters also barged into Corps Commander’s house in Lahore Cantt and set ablaze the objects outside his house. Protesters also threw away police barricades and set them on fire.
PTI workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gathered on the streets of Lakki Marwat district under the leadership of provincial party president Muhammad Iqbal against the arrest of Imran Khan. Khan’s supporters also put on fire the building of Radio Pakistan in Peshawar.
PTI supporters burnt tyres, close Indus Highway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A replica of Pakistan Airforce aircraft was set ablaze by supporters of PTI chief Imran Khan outside the Mianwali air base.
All the private schools across Pakistan will be shut from Wednesday until further notice in the wake of an ongoing protest against the former premier and PTI chief.
Meanwhile, Indian defence forces are keeping a close watch on the situation in Pakistan. Strong vigil being maintained by the forces along the line of control and the international border.
US Congressman Brad Sherman criticised former Pakistan PM and PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrest from outside Islamabad High Court.
Later in evening, the Islamabad High Court ruled Imran Khan’s arrest legal. However, Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq issued the order to stay the arrest of other PTI leaders including Fawad Chaudhry, Saifullah Niazi, Faisal Chaudhry, Naeem Haider, Ali Bukhari.
