With Amritpal Singh still at large, the Khalistani leader’s wife Kirandeep Kaur and his parents were probed by the police. However, they refuted allegations of receiving foreign funding.

On Wednesday, three police officers, including a woman police officer, went to Amritpal’s house in Jallupur Kheda village and questioned his wife Kirandeep, father Tarsem Singh and mother Balwinder Kaur.

According to police, Kirandeep Kaur was questioned for about 40 minutes about the sources from where Amritpal Singh was receiving funds for his activities.

The woman police officer roped in to question Amritpal’s family members asked Kirandeep what kind of work she did, how long had her association been with Amritpal and when and how she raised money for the outfit.

According to sources, Kirandeep Kaur told police that she met Amritpal Singh via a social networking site. Since both of them shared a similar ideology about Khalistan, their relationship grew stronger and both of them got married on February 10 this year.

Though the police officers remained tight-lipped about the interrogation of Amritpal’s family members, sources revealed that most of Kirandeep Kaur’s answers were negative and she denied all allegations.

Amritpal’s mother, Balwinder Kaur, told police during interrogation that her daughter-in-law was a working woman and that she did most of her work online after getting married. She questioned why the police officers here were questioning Kirandeep Kaur, who is a US citizen, and why her accounts were being probed.

It has been learnt from sources that Amritpal’s father Tarsem Singh also bluntly told the police officers that he had no relation with Khalistan nor did he get any funding from abroad.
