Actor Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram handle and reacted to reports of her upcoming film, Emergency being granted to shoot inside Parliament.

Earlier news agency PTI had reported that Kangana has sought permission from the Lok Sabha Secretariat for the film shoot inside the Parliament premises. It also mentioned while her letter is under consideration, she is likely to be disallowed.

On Tuesday, Kangana reshared a post that read, “First time ever a movie is allowed to shoot in parliament, a small segment of Emergency movie will shoot soon in parliament.” Reacting to it, the actor wrote, “That’s not true it’s a fake news!!!”

Previously PTI sources claimed that Kangana wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Secretariat. In the letter, she has requested that she be allowed to shoot the film based on the Emergency inside Parliament premises.

Sources said that private entities are not granted permission for shooting or recording any sort of videography inside Parliament premises normally. However, it can be a different case for any official or government work. State broadcasters Doordarshan and Sansad TV are among the only ones allowed to shoot programmes or events inside Parliament.

Emergency is a political drama, directed and produced by Kangana. In the film, the actor will be seen essaying the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. On her death anniversary, Kangana said, “Bharat ki pratham mahila pradhan mantri, Bharat Ratan shrimati Indira Gandhi ji ki puniye tithi par unhe naman (Salute to India’s first Prime Minister, awardee of Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary) #IndiraGandhi.”

Besides Kangana, actors Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, Satish Kaushik and Shreyas Talpade will also be seen in key roles in the film. Shooting for Emergency began in June this year. Recently the film’s team wrapped up their schedule in Assam.

Kangana announced the film, Emergency in 2021. It is written by Ritesh Shah, who also penned Kangana’s last film Dhaakad, which failed at the box office. She shared the update on Koo and said, “Pleased to wear director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. This is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league #Emergency #Indira.”
