Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma among nominees for Women’s Player of Month award in October

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Thursday, November 3, named India’s Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma and Pakistan’s Nida Dar as the nominees for Women’s Player of the Month award in October.

Deepti was outstanding in the Women’s Asia Cup where she became the Player of the Tournament. The right-arm spinner picked up 13 wickets at an average of 7.69 with two three-wicket hauls to show for her efforts.

Deepti also played a crucial 64-run knock in India’s match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), helping her team secure a massive win.

Jemimah was India’s standout batter in the Asia Cup without a shred of a doubt. The right-handed batter racked up 217 runs at an average of 54.25 with knocks of 78 and 75* against Sri Lanka and the UAE.

The woman prodigy won the Player of the Match awards in both instances, as Harmanpreet’s Kaur India came up trumps.

The 22-year-old Rodrigues also played a crucial role for the Women in Blue in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She is currently plying her trade for the Melbourne Stars in the 2022-23 edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

In three innings, the 22-year-old youngster has scored only 16 runs at an average of 5.33 with a top score of eight.

As far as Dar is concerned, she has been a fulcrum of the Pakistan Women’s team for over a decade. In the Asia Cup, she scored 145 runs from six matches at an average of 72.50.

Moreover, she picked up eight wickets at an average of 14.87. She scored 56 against India and picked up two wickets, helping Pakistan win.
