At least four people died after drones laden with explosives struck Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv on Monday.

This is the second wave of airstrikes that Russia unleashed on Ukraine after a key bridge connecting Russia and annexed Crimea was destroyed earlier this month.

Meanwhile, in the port city of Mykolaiv, a Russian missile struck an apartment building on Tuesday morning, reported Reuters, citing a witness.

The witness told Reuters that a fire crew recovered the body of a man from the rubble after a wing of the building was completely destroyed.

Here are the top developments in the story:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday said Russia attacked the capital city of Kyiv using drones laden with explosives. At least four people were killed in the attack, the second of its kind in a week after a key bridge connecting Russia and Crimea was destroyed earlier this month.

Zelenskyy during his video address said, “Right now, there is a new Russian drone attack.” He added that Ukrainian soldiers shot down some of the drones..

Following the attacks, the White House issued a warning that it will hold Russia accountable for its “war crimes”. According to Reuters, US President Joe Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the media and said that the White House “strongly condemns Russia’s missile strikes” and that the attack “continues to demonstrate Putin’s brutality”.

Not even a day after the drone strikes, a Russian missile struck an apartment building in the Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv on Tuesday morning, said Reuters citing a witness.

According to the witness, the missile completely destroyed one wing of the building and a fire crew recovered the body of a man from the rubble.
