Odisha braces for heavy rainfall today, railway tracks submerged in part of Maharashtra

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Saturday and said heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Odisha over the next few days due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the east-central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation is likely to trigger the formation of a low pressre area over the Bay of Bengal around Tuesday, said the Met office.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy died in Uttar Pradesh’s Deori after a wall of his kutcha house collapsed following rains in the district.

For several days, heavy rains lashed Deoria district, leading to heavy waterlogging in many places. Roads have been flooded and in many localities water has entered the houses of people.

ODISHA RAINS
In Odisha, the weatherman predicted heavy rain in a few areas across Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kendrapara and Kandhamal districts on Sunday.

A yellow alert for heavy showers across coastal and southern parts of the state was issued for Monday by the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre. It also forecast torrential rain in many districts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fisherfolk have been directed not to go into the deep-sea areas.

RAILWAY TRACKS SUBMERGED IN MAHARASHTRA
Incessant heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has led to waterlogging in several areas of Thane. Railway tracks at the Thane Railway station have been submerged under the rain water.

In Pune, the water level of the Mula Mutha River has been rising from the continuous rainfall. The Baba Bhide Bridge is currently submerged under water after the Khadakwasla dam was opened due to continuous rainfall in the catchment area.

RAINFALL DECREASE IN UTTAR PRADESH
Following several fatalities from rain-related incidents, the IMD on Saturday said rainfall is likely to decrease over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar over the next few days.

As many as 22 people died from separate rain-related incidents in the state on the same day.

The pause in rainfall will come as a huge relief for the people of the state after they experienced continuous heavy rainfall for several days.
