Hate is on rise in India, says Rahul Gandhi as he holds ‘Halla Bol’ rally at Ramlila Maidan

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday addressed the ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, during.

Which he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government, saying since the BJP came to power, anger and hatred have increased.

He further said that the Modi government’s policies are benefitting only two big industrialists and he can not be a PM without their support.

“The BJP and the RSS divide the country. They develop fear and divide people. Who gets the advantage of this fear? Is it poor, farmer, small traders who is getting any benefit from the Narendra Modi government? Only two corporate people are getting the benefit of hatred and fear,” the Congress leader said.

“The BJP is giving all the benefits to two people. Now see Narendra Modi did notebandi. Did it help the poor? The three laws were not for farmers, but they were for those two corporate houses only. But the farmers came on the road and showed their power to Narendra Modi.”

And when Narendra Modi saw this, he had to shelve the three farm laws, said Gandhi. Meanwhile, adequate security arrangements were made in and around the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi in view of the Congress’ protest on Sunday.

The Delhi Police had also issued a traffic advisory on its official Twitter handle, alerting commuters about road closures. According to the police, paramilitary forces were deployed along with the local police at the venue for the rally and metal detectors will also be placed at the entry points of the ground.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Traffic Police had advised commuters to avoid some stretches due to the rally. Ranjeet Singh Flyover from Barakhamba Road to Guru Nanak Chowk, Vivekanand Marg (both sides), JLN Marg (Delhi Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk), round about Kamla Market to Guru Nanak Chowk, Chaman Lal Marg, Ajmeri Gate towards Asaf Ali Road and DDU-Minto Road red light point towards Kamla Market remained closed.

Earlier, the Congress held a massive protest against price rise, unemployment, and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) hike on essential items on August 5. Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra participated in the protest dressed in all black.

Earlier in the day, Rahul took to Twitter to say that only PM Modi is responsible for today’s situation where people have to think 10 times even before buying essential things.
