Mr. Habib Ahmed, born on October 2, 1940, in Jalalabad, Uttar Pradesh, is a pioneering figure in India’s hair and beauty industry. With a career spanning over five decades, he has been instrumental in transforming hairstyling from a modest profession into a respected art form.

Coming from a lineage of esteemed barbers, his father, Nazir Ahmed, served as the official hairdresser to British Viceroys, including Lord Linlithgow and Lord Mountbatten, and continued his service post-independence for President Rajendra Prasad at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Inspired by this legacy, Habib Ahmed pursued advanced hairdressing studies in London during the 1970s, training at the Morris School of Hair Design. Upon returning to India, he joined the Oberoi Group of Hotels in New Delhi, where he worked from 1971 to 1981.

In 1983, he established the first Habib’s Hair & Beauty Salon at the Lodi Hotel in Delhi, marking the beginning of a brand that would revolutionize hairstyling in India. Recognizing the need for professional training in this field, he founded the Habib Sons Academy two years later, aiming to educate and uplift aspiring hairstylists. Today, the Habib’s brand boasts numerous salons and academies across India and internationally, including locations in London and New York.

Habib Ahmed’s dedication to his craft has earned him accolades such as the ‘Indian International Gold Award’ in 1995 and the ‘Pride of Country Award’ in 1999. He is also a life member of the World Federation of Supreme Hairdressing since 1968 and has served as a judge at various international beauty pageants and hair shows.
