Under-construction building collapses at Kannauj railway station, several trapped

At least 23 people have been rescued, and around 25 others are feared trapped after an under-construction roof slab collapsed at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, officials said.

Police and rescue personnel, including a team from the State Disaster Response Force, are present at the spot and operations are on to rescue the trapped workers. Those rescued have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Kannauj District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukl was quoted as saying by news agency PTI that the incident occurred when the under-construction shuttering of the roof collapsed.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took note of the accident and directed officials to immediately reach the site and expedite relief efforts. He also directed the officials to ensure proper treatment for the persons injured in the incident.
