Tech titan Elon Musk roasted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after he asserted.

that there was no chance that Canada would become part of the US, as pitched by President-elect Donald Trump on several occasions. Picking a leaf from Trump’s playbook, Musk referred to Trudeau as the “governor of Canada”, saying his views do not matter now as he has decided to step down as Prime Minister.

“Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say,” Musk tweeted, referring to Trudeau’s recent announcement to step down as leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minister amid deteriorating approval ratings.

The US President-elect has been teasing Trudeau by calling him the “governor” after he emphasised during a recent meeting with him that Canada should become the 51st US state if it can’t handle aggressive tariffs.

Musk has been breathing down Trudeau’s neck ever since Trump emerged victorious in the US election. Apart from predicting Trudeau’s ouster, he has also labelled him “an insufferable tool”. After Trudeau resigned as Prime Minister earlier this week, Musk’s pointed remark grabbed attention. “2025 is looking good,” he said.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump escalated his attack on Canada amid the prospect of a trade war, saying he would use “economic force” to make Canada a part of the United States. When asked by reporters if he was considering military action to annex Canada, Trump replied with a firm “no”. However, he indicated that using “economic force”, meaning hefty tariffs on Canadian goods, was on the cards.

“You get rid of that artificially drawn line, and you take a look at what that looks like, and it would also be much better for national security. Don’t forget, we basically protect Canada,” Trump said.

Trudeau sharply hit back at Trump, saying, “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada will become part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner.”
