While the Australian team took an off day after their resounding victory in the pink ball Test, India team went straight into practice on Tuesday, December 10.
The entire squad led by Rohit Sharma were present at the Adelaide Oval and went through an intense session. There were several takeaways from the Indian practice, the chief among them being – KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal might continue to open for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The broadcaster revealed that there were no changes in the batting order for the Indian team, with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal coming out for the hits first. They were followed by the rest of the Indian batting order, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. This could be an indication that Rohit Sharma continues to bat in the middle to let KL Rahul keep his opener’s spot.
India were also given a slight scare during the nets, after Rishabh Pant got hit on his helmet by a bouncer. Pant had to stop training and was attended by the medical staff of the team. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who were batting in the adjacent nets, stopped their training to look at Pant.
However, the good news was that Pant went back to batting in the nets after being attended by the team.
The broadcaster reported that Virat Kohli worked on his backfoot game in the Adelaide nets. The batter has been dismissed multiple times while pressing on the front foot and edging the ball to the slips and it looks like he has been working to resolve that issue.
IND vs AUS: Adelaide Test
Australia stormed their way into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after winning the 2nd Test match of the series in Adelaide. Australian pacers made their presence felt, bowling India out for 180 and 175 in the two innings after their meek show in Perth. Tempers flared, and the crowd also got involved in Adelaide as the two teams went against each other in an intense contest.
The tone of the Test match was a stark contrast to the respectful build-up to the game, during which players had shown great mutual regard. The Australians, in particular, were notably respectful towards Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who carried formidable reputations in the series.
While the first Test reflected a somewhat subdued approach from Australia on the field, they left that behind in Perth. In the second game, Australia showed incredible fight, at times went overboard with their aggression, and the record Adelaide crowd rallied behind them at the Oval.
