9 Injured In Stampede At Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus Due To Diwali Rush

At least nine people were injured after a stampede incident at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus station.

The incident occurred at 5.56 am on platform number 1, ahead of the departure of Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. The injured were shifted to Bhabha Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the stampede broke out due to the festive rush ahead of Diwali. The condition of the seven people is stable, while two others have sustained critical injuries.

The injured have been identified as Shabhir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25), Indrajith Sahani (19) and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18).

Train No 22921, travelling from Bandra to Gorakhpur, arrived at platform 1, drawing a large crowd of passengers eager to board. Visuals from the scene showed blood on the platform floor, with Railway Police and other passengers can be seen helping the injured people onto stretchers.

A video captured a Railway officer carrying an injured passenger on his shoulder. Another clip showed two men lying on the platform floor, their clothes stained with blood. Nearby, a man sat on a bench, his shirt torn.

“A sudden stampede broke out this morning at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus as crowds surged to board the Bandra-Gorakhpur train,” an eyewitness said. “The rush quickly escalated, overwhelming the station’s capacity and leaving nine people injured.”
