A fresh gunfight broke out between security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua on Monday night. This is the third encounter in Kathua in the past nine days.
Three terrorists were trapped by the forces in the upper reaches of Kathua. Security forces established fresh contact with the terrorists in the far-flung Ramkot area in the district. Reinforcements were sent to the site of the ongoing operation.
Further details are awaited.
The first gunbattle broke out on March 23 near Sanyal village in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district. A girl was injured during the encounter and had to be hospitalised. Her condition was said to be stable.
After the initial gunbattle, the terrorists managed to escape from the point of first contact and the search operations continued.
On March 27, another gunfight occurred in Juthana in Kathua, which saw four police personnel losing their lives and two terrorists believed to be from the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit gunned down during an ongoing anti-terror operation.
Sources told India Today TV earlier that four to five terrorists were hiding in a densely forested area in Juthana, and security personnel traced the location of the hiding terrorists.
