At least 10 people died on Friday after a passenger taxi rolled down a gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The accident happened near the Ramban area.
According to news agency ANI, a team of the local police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and civil Quick Response Team (QRT) of Ramban, reached the spot as soon as the information about the accident was received.
A rescue operation at the site was underway, the Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed.
A video from the highway, as shared by ANI, showed a team of rescue officials on the spot.
In its forecast, the weather department had on Thursday said Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region were likely to witness rain or snow with thunderstorms.
