Situation continues to remain grim in several states following incessant downpour, throwing life out of gear.

More than 250 rescue & relief teams are deployed in Kerala, Maharashtra & Karnataka to provide assistance to those stranded in flood hit areas.

Rescue teams including that of NDRF, ARMY and NAVY are evacuating those stranded in flood hit areas. Rescue teams are using boats to move people to safer places.

Besides, relief material is being provided to those affected by floods.In Kerala, Rescue and relief operations are on war footing in rain ravaged areas.

At least 42 people have been killed in rain related incidents so far. Over one lakh people are in various relief camps in the state. In the last two days 80 landslides from eight districts are being reported.

NDRF, army columns, SDRF, navy and Coast Guard are taking part in rescue and rehabilitation efforts in different parts of the state.

Rail, road and air transport took a hit in the state with several trains being cancelled and the Cochin International Airport shut till August 11 due to water logging. Govt has issued red alert for nine districts as rains Rain is expected to continue till Monday.

Meanwhile.. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has conveyed to Kerala Governor that the Centre would consider liberal support to Kerala in view of flood situation.

This follows the Governor furnishing a report on the losses caused by flood and landslides, the status of rescue operations and present flood situation in Kerala to Union Home Minister.

The Governor also apprised the situation over phone to Union Home Minister and sought more support for relief operations in landslide affected areas of Malappuram and other districts.

Karnataka too continues to reel under severe flood conditions.

More than 16 of the 30 districts and 80 talukas are suffering due to heavy rain. over 1000 villages are facing flood like situation and thousands of people have been shifted to safer places.

So far 24 people have died in rain related incidents.Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the flood-hit Belagavi and Bagalkote on Saturday.
