Leaders of all ASEAN nations will be in New Delhi to commemorate 25 years of India-ASEAN ties. Talks ranging from trade to security and counter-terrorism are expected to take ties to new heights.
On 25th Anniversary of India-ASEAN ties, leaders of 10 nations will be in India on January 25. India will present a blueprint on taking relations with ASEAN nations to a new high.
There will be a leaders' retreat during which the leaders will have a "free and frank" discussion on January 25. Following this, a plenary session will take place on the same day.
To give further impetus to economic activities, business summit will also be organised.
And cultural ties between India and ASEAN nations will also be on display.
To strengthen ties, India is focussing on its Act East Policy under which the emphasis is on making the cultural, economic, historic and strategic relations even better.
Recently, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj returned after a successful visit to 3 ASEAN nations--Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
ASEAN which means Association of South East Asian Nations comprises Indonesia, Malaysia, Phillipines, Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei and Laos.
